map shared stewardship

 What is this about?

Who takes care of urban green spaces after they’re built? Around the world, cities, communities, and organizations are finding new ways to share that responsibility, and we’ve been collecting their stories! Through our Open Call on shared stewardship of urban green spaces, we received submissions from projects across the globe. Now we want to bring contributors and curious minds together to turn these insights into something practical: a map that truly works for the people who need it.

What will we do together?

In 90 minutes, we’ll move between small group conversations and collective mapping to:

  • Share real experiences of keeping green spaces and collaborations alive after implementation
  • Explore and react to the prototype stewardship map we’ve built so far
  • Co-design what the map should include, how it should work, and what would make it genuinely useful

No preparation needed, just bring your experience and curiosity!

About What’s That Green? Governance Lab

The Governance Lab is a community of practice co-creating practical models to support nature in cities. Our first edition focuses on shared stewardship of urban green spaces, exploring how civil society, city administrations, and institutions can care for green spaces together, beyond construction. This session is part of a broader Stewardship Roadmap aimed at developing and sharing transferable models of collaborative stewardship.
