Here are, Beatrice & Irina – your WTG? Local catalysts! September is (almost) here, and so is our next What’s That Green? meet-up in Rotterdam! This time, we’ll gather in Schiehaven — a neighborhood in transition — to explore how nature-based solutions and participatory design are shaping its future. We’re excited to welcome both familiar faces and newcomers to our community of urban change-makers!
Here’s everything you need to know:
Date: Saturday, 13.09.2025
Time: 12:00 CET
Place: Rotterdam – exact meeting point to be confirmed
What’s this event about?
We’ll explore ongoing and planned initiatives that are redefining a new relationship between the city and the river, where the riverfront is meant to be a vibrant, climate-adaptive space that works with nature and not against it.
Together, we’ll:
- Map the key actors – from developers to residents, investors to NGOs – to understand who shapes nature-based interventions in the neighborhood and how.
- Explore the most inspiring parts of the redevelopment plan through the lens of climate adaptation, biodiversity and community well-being.
- Play a cooperative game where you will take on a role – individually or in a small group – and design and negotiate interventions that combine green infrastructure with strong community participation.
Whether you’re a professional, a student, or simply curious about your city, you’ll leave with fresh insights, new connections, and a better understanding of the forces behind urban change.
If you haven’t yet signed up for the community, please take a moment to do so by clicking “Join us” and answering a couple of quick questions. Once completed, you receive the email with the Slack invitation where you’ll have access to all global community updates and discussions.
